I had the privilege of shooting the 2014 Rocky Mountain Endurance Series PV Derby at Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch near Elbert, CO Saturday. What a fun place to ride AND photograph! I was hired by Warriors Cycling to cover their event, with the task of photographing all racers. I didn’t know anything about Peaceful Valley, and had no idea what to expect, so I went on a trail scouting mission (get it?) Friday afternoon.
Built in the 1960s by the Army Corps of Engineers, Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch is located at 7,000 feet, near Elbert, CO, and serves as the main camping location for the Denver Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. It’s also home to a 22 mile mountain bike loop that winds through Ponderosa, Black Forest, and prairies, with views of Pikes Peak along the way. This is private land, and the trails are only open to mountain bikers during this event. It’s a fun place to ride, and I think anyone who’s done this race would agree that these trails are worth the price of admission.
Warriors Cycling is offering hi-res photos to download for free to all RME participants. I was hired to capture those images. View the full photo set.
